The issue of sustainability is of great importance in our company. In the last 30 years, we at Piepenbrock have therefore implemented and consistently expanded holistic sustainability management. Within this framework, we in the company have developed our own sustainability strategy with which we pursue the vision of a CO2-neutral service.
At Piepenbrock, the issue of sustainability is firmly anchored in the corporate culture. One of the four company principles for our employees is "Act in a sustainable manner". This principle has now guided us for more than 30 years and we assume responsibility for our employees and customers, for society as well as for the environment. In doing so, we make a contribution to ensuring that future generations also have the conditions for a decent quality of life.
The starting point of our sustainability commitment was the creation of the position of environmental officer in the year 1990 and grouping together our entire ecological activities under the motto "Piepenbrock Goes Green" with the vision of a CO2-neutral service. Over the years, we have continuously expanded our commitment. For example, we purchased our company-owned forest in the year 1995. In 2010, we started the "Growth campaign" together with our customers and in co-operation with Plan International Deutschland took over the first child sponsorships in Laos. In the year 2011, as the first facility service provider, we published a sustainability report and presented the CO2-neutral packaging machine. In 2011, together with the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), we also created the "Hartwig Piepenbrock DZNE Prize" in order to drive forward research into Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
Over and above this, our company is certified by the German Institute for Sustainability and Economy and has repeatedly received the "Trusted Sustainability" seal of approval. Last year, we were also honoured for our strategic company orientation and sustainable management culture with the Axia Best Managed Companies Award.

We have aligned ourselves to sustainability – and have done so for three decades. Our sustainable activity is based on a sustainability strategy defined in the company, developed taking account of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) defined by the United Nations. We have visualised our strategy in the "tree of sustainability". This also takes its orientation from the three pillars of sustainability: Ecology, social issues and economy.
